An example of a couple of works which had characters I seriously loathed but still managed to enjoy the story are the Belgariad by David Eddings (Hated character: Ce'Nedra) and the first book in Diana Wynne Jone's Chrestomanci series (Hated character: Gwendolyne). And most times, that really spoils my enjoyment of the story, unless the story is really just that damn good that I manage to overlook that minor annoyance of a character, or if that character simply doesn't play much of a part in the story. Or even if they're unabashedly evil/mean - as long as they're funny I can still like, if only tolerate, them. First of all, I'd admit that when it comes to characters in stories, I generally like most characters, even those who may be rather annoying, as long as they have some generally good traits or have some good intentions at heart. He is everything she isn't, and she is attracted to him because of that - outgoing, outspoken, popular and, above all, a genuinely nice guy.ДЄnd this is where it all starts to fall to pieces for me. However, it is because of her own perceived flaws that, despite clashing with him initially, she begins to fall for the main guy, Yano. This is actually one aspect of her character I liked, since it's very realistic, and is definitely something I can empathise with. And she's not a nice girl, she's just merely afraid of being disliked by others. She's not accommodating, she just can't stand up for herself. In other words, she thinks that her good qualities are merely euphemised versions of their flipsides - the way she sees it, she's not obedient, just cowardly. She's the typical obedient, rather shy and good girl, struggling with insecurities about her own personality.

And on for a manga that focuses almost exclusively on the main coupling, this is not a good thing for me.ДЇirst we have the main girl, Nana. For that, it scores points, that much I admit.Д«ut the main characters totally and completely turn me off. Sure, it's a rather bittersweet look at a developing unrequited love that eventually turns (or will turn) into a blossoming romance. Sure, it's a much more realistic take on relationships. I canNOT understand why people like this manga. I decided to read this manga after reading some blog reviews on the anime, since it's been given relatively positive, if not lackluster ratings so far.Д«UT.

She had grown feelings for Yano even though Aki-chan knows that Yano loves Nanami, and he just sees her as a friend. She became Yano's classmate when he transferred school in Tokyo from Hokkaido leaving Nanami behind. Her character does not appear in the anime at all. Therefore, she does not see Nanami Takahashi as a rival and she is the one who reveals Yano's whereabouts to Nanami that she is shown to have a hard time dealing with the whole story - she confesses at one point that she would be unable to wait for someone as long as Nanami did. Akiko 'Aki' SengenjiВ (еЌѓи¦‹еЇє дєњеёЊеђ Sengenji Akiko) is Motoharu Yano's former classmate from Tokyo who is also in love with him, but she is well aware of the fact that he only sees her as a friend.
